Traditionally Majority of Tibetan People are divided among nomad and farmer, so Most of Tibetan festivals are based on their day to day life on field and grassland. Most of Tibetan festivals are held with based on Tibetan lunar calendar, Tibetan lunar calendar is based on traditional astrology. Most of time, its differ with Gregorian calendar with one month or two months. The exact dates are may be change a little bit as monastery decide.

Lhasa Shoton Yoghurt Festival Tour Start on 15 Aug

At dawn, a huge Thangka will be unfolded at Drepung Monastery. Lamas perform opera in the main courtyard. Seven days celebration, mainly perform Tibetan opera at Norbulinga Park and Zongkyab LuKhang, Behind Potala Palace, also time for picnic.
